My laptop only has a standard monitor output. I wanted to know if there was a device that could connect to it or a USB in able to output the screen to a TV. I guess the signal would need to be converted and then output via svideo or scart. Any ideas guys?

Yeah you can it's a cable with a blue end on it I forget what it's called but you get it with LCD tv's for computer screens,
if you're laptop has a socket with a picture of a box with brackets round it, it should be fine and should be able to plug it into the tv.
I've done it before with my hard drive and it really looked cool.

Yes I connect my laptop to the tv with a VGA cable. Not expensive and available at computer shops.

If your tv is not compatible to a VGA then you might want to use a s-video cable
