My God! His 12 year old daughter is pregnant "and" the dog died too! Man, this guy has got it bad!......
Crack reminds me of how when someone is "horny" they suffer temporary insanity until their "itch" is gratified. These are natural highs. Some natural highs are legal and some are illegal according to man's law. Wouldn't it be better to stick with the "legal" highs? Why not "better safe than sorry", right?
But, there is a high beyond even the legal high. We can discover this high through dharma and yoga.
The four legs of Dharma are charity, truth, education, mercy, sacrifice and selfcontrol. The four legs of Dharma will combat things like crack addiction. The only thing beyond these godly virtues is our relationship with the Supreme Being, the Supreme God. The Dharma advances to the Varnasrama Dharma. This understanding is summarized in the ancient wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.
You can try putting together a list of all legal highs. You will need to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each. For instance, potatoes help with production of dopamine and have sedative properties. But, potatoes are a high calorie risk food. Coffee is a high, but you also come down from coffee. And there is a certain amount of coffee addiction to cope with.
Here are some passages from one of the links listed below showing the dangers of cocaine and crack.
Cocaine affects your brain. The word "cocaine" refers to the drug in both a powder (cocaine) and crystal (crack) form. It is made from the coca plant and causes a short-lived high that is immediately followed by opposite, intense feelings of depression, edginess, and a craving for more of the drug. Cocaine may be snorted as a powder, converted to a liquid form for injection with a needle, or processed into a crystal form to be smoked.
Cocaine affects your body. People who use cocaine often don't eat or sleep regularly. They can experience increased heart rate, muscle spasms, and convulsions. If they snort cocaine, they can also permanently damage their nasal tissue.
Cocaine affects your emotions. Using cocaine can make you feel paranoid, angry, hostile, and anxious, even when you're not high.
Cocaine is addictive. Cocaine interferes with the way your brain processes chemicals that create feelings of pleasure, so you need more and more of the drug just to feel normal. People who become addicted to cocaine start to lose interest in other areas of their life, like school, friends, and sports.
Cocaine can kill you. Cocaine use can cause heart attacks, seizures, strokes, and respiratory failure. People who share needles can also contract hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, or other diseases.

Well there really is only one way and thats to ask god to help your friends. Im sure that would help. But if thats not your thing which is ok, then try talking to him and help him get his life back on track. He needs to know you are there for him. Tell him there are legal drugs out there to help deal with his stress. He needs to know that you are there for him no matter what. Help him with his problems. If that doesnt stop his crack problem then talk to him abut rehab. Dont come strong about it though. Just bring it up casually. Dont put alot of pressure on him tell him there are other options to help him and that crack is not the answer! :) Hope I helped!

Sounds like a country song lol. No but seriously. Your friend needs help if he's resorting to crack as a problem solver. Are you sure it is even crack? Talk to him, and try to get him some help.

Keep talking to him and keep telling him that its not going to take away all his problems. and that is just going to make it worse, but I hate to be the one who tells you. but he has to hit rock bottom and really wants to quit himself, no one can make him. just be there for him when the time comes. and let him know that you are there for him every step of the way. good luck. I hope that you can talk him out of doing that stuff. I use to do it and Ive been cleaned for 7 years now. and I am glad to be off it. and If he is hanging around people who does it , he needs to stay away from them.

Counseling and rehab and probably the best thing for him. Or forget the counseling if he no longer wants to be with his cheating wife.

Talk to him about going to rehab. Tell him you will help him through this. You sound like a caring friend, he needs you to be behind him.

please try to comfort him and visit a doctor with him ok? you should go for rehab. Take action immediately or this situation could get a lot worse... He can't help himself or his family by getting addicted to crack (which, I hate to mention, can be fatal). So, please hurry. I hope it all turns out well.
Have courage................
