Stillbirth is the death of a baby after the 20th week of pregnancy, but before delivery. The baby may have died in the uterus weeks or hours before labor, or during labor.

In some cases, the mother may notice a decrease in the movement or kicking of the fetus. In these cases, the health care provider uses an ultrasound, a machine that uses sound waves to create a picture of the fetus, to learn more about its health.

Others experience an intuitive sense of danger, or death. Some women have a sense of something 'being not quite right', and are then told by their caregiver at a check up that there 'may be a problem'.

Some have bleeding and cramping. That is what i had. I lost twins and 2 sons to stillbirth.

It depends why the baby has died,
If the baby has just died say for example the heart has just stopped then your tummy would feel heavy, which could trigger contractions
However if the mother was bleeding internally then she would have acute pain, perhaps contractions or bleeding from her vagina.
