Your best bet is more tiger barbs to prevent fin nipping as they grow. Either that or ditch the tiger barb and add some more of the other fish and if you have room a pair of live bearers. Both the zebras and the Serpae tetras would do better in a bit larger groups. Your options really depend on the size of your tank.

The tiger barb is an aggressive fish. Shred fins, bites etc. Get rid of it. Possibly trade for more of what you have. Zebras look really great in a big school. At least 6. Could get some bottom fish like a red tail shark, they mind their own business. Neon tetras would look really colorful also. They also school so figure 5-7. These are small fish when fully grown. Take care to select healthy fish. Wait until your tank is mature at least a month before you put in any catfish or bottom feeders so they have something to eat. Have fun. Why a livebearer? The babies would only get eaten. After you know all the ropes of keeping a healthy tank, set up another one just for the livebearers. It is a real trip to see them born and watch them grow. And, they come in so many colors.

You don't say how big your tank is, so you may not be able to add much more. If you can add more, for the health and happiness of your current fish, get more of the same type. You have all schooling fish that should be in at least groups of three. I would see if you could trade your barb at a pet store because they can be a bit of a bully and even more so when not kept in proper schools.

If your tank is large enough and you get your current guys up to proper numbers, you can add a livebearer, but remember these guys do best as a trio, one male to two females. When purchased in pairs, the female will be so harrassed by the male she will not live very long.

Again, this all depends on the size of your tank, the type of filtration etc.

Hope this helped some. Good luck and enjoy!

Mollies, platy's and swordtails should go fine. Also, consider the size of your tank--general rule is 1 inch of full grown fish per gallon of water. Some tetras and the tiger barbs get to about 2" when aged and fully grown. Another good addition( love for color) is the neon tetra.

Good luck and enjoy, I find tropical tanks addictive. I have a 55, 29 & 10 Gal currently.

PS--those are schooling fish--preferably as long as they have a buddy---they are fine----I have had 1 white tip tetra and 1 tiger bard my 55 for over a year----they just socialize with each other and the other fish----had them for a few years.

An Oto is a superb algae eater. They do tend to die easily interior the 1st couple of weeks. A Siamese algae eater is a superb algae eater as properly. the two those fish are actually not basic to locate in maximum fish shops, and a super sort of times different fish are mislabeled as them. An apple/secret snail or 2 would do a great interest in a 10 gallon tank as properly. (The breed very sluggish not in basic terms like the small ones that have a tendency to come again on vegetation you purchase interior the shop.) Plecos variety a great deal in length, habit, and algae eating. There are a minimum of 50 species interior the fish commerce. The so called straight forward pleco is oftentimes one in each and every of three distinctive fish. one in each and every of which grows to in basic terms approximately 2 ft in length. you have gotten good fortune with a small breed pleco, yet your tanks a splash small. dodge the easy/chinese language algae eater because it advance almost a foot in length, and develops a flavor for fish latter in existence.

I hope you have at least a 30 gallon tank. All the fish you already have are schoaling fish and need to be in groups of 6. You have no bottom feeders either to fallen food. You might consider some yoyo botia(Yoyo Loaches).

If your tank is large enough, you need more of the same. These fish need to school in quantities of 4-6+ otherwise they will die of stress.
