You are still low on oil. Check the oil level and fill to the appropriate level on the dip stick, or, just take it to JiffyLube and get an oil change.

The ticking is most likely your lifters. The metal at the top, or head, of your engine will have dried out more than the bottom, or block. The purpose of oil is to lubricate the engine so that the metal parts can move against each other freely. With no oil, the metal parts will heat up and were out way faster. You were very lucky that your engine didn't stop completely, but damage was still done, metal did were out and warp even if just a little.
Without have to spend a lot of money , try adding an oil additive.
The top of your engine will still be very dry and needs something thicker that won't just drain back down to your oil pan when the car is off.
Hope this helps

Is the oil level up to the full mark on the dip stick? It sounds like its still low and the ticking you hear are your lifters making noise, as most cars use hydraulic lifters the engine oil level affects how they operate. You need to ensure you have the correct amount of oil in the engine and the proper oil wt. ie 5w30 or 10w30. You may have already damaged the valve train which means you are looking at having to have the top end of your engine rebuilt.

I would quess that it might take a while before it will get the oil through the whole system before the light will go off.

You have a oil leak. This has to be repaired. Running with no oil or low oil (even dirty or worn oil is trouble) will destroy the engine quickly.
