I fell hard snowboarding yesterday and messed up my knee pretty bad. This morning I woke up and couldn't sretch my leg all the way up. After taking gym in the afternoon and running a little it felt good but about 15 minutes after a burning sensation was in my knee. Any idea what it is?

Also the burning is on the inside of my right knee. Since I want to be a PE teacher i know some of this stuff and the only thing i can think of is a strained/torn meniscus.

You have probably damaged the ligaments, you need to see a doctor about it. Do not exercise until you have had it checked out otherwise you could do more damage.

I am a doctor so, please take my advice. It sounds like you have either a sprain or a torn ligament in your knee. When someone has a injury such as this one, it usually takes a day for any severe pain to appear. When you woke up in the morning and couldn't stretch your leg all the way, that should have been a sign to you that you need to go see a doctor. PLEASE!!! If you don't have any insurance any emergency room will take you without payment. If you don't get this taken care of it will only get worse.

You could have easily torn something such as a ligament. Or you could have a tear in the cartilage. You should cease your physical activities such as gym until you know what this is because to continue may cause damage that you can't undo. I wish I would have been easier on my knees when I had the chance. Pain means stop.

Sounds like you tore some sort tissue. Which is what attaches the muscle to the bone. Try to ease up on your exercise for a while and stay off it. It can heal on its own, but takes longer than an actual break in the bone does to heal. Sometimes they do surgery, but that would be the last resort I'd take if I was you.

Take a general pain killer like aspirin and put ice on it with it up.

Stay off of it for a couple of days.
