Doing a lot of lunges really helps. But be sure to do them slowly, with your front leg in a 90 degree angle over your foot so that you don't hurt yourself. Getting into your full splits will take a lot of time, but you should stretch every day for at least 30 minutes if you want to get them quickly. Hold every stretch for at least 30 seconds if you want it to do anything at all. Good luck!

HI! I have been doing dance for several years now and have both splits. It took a lot of work but I have a few stretches you can try. They are hard to explain, but someone on here asked a similar question so I asked my mom to take some pics of me doing the stretches. I can send them through email, but no offense or anything, but I don't want to waste my time loading them on the computer if I'm not getting the ten points. SO if you want detailed tips and pictures of stretches all you have to do is choose me as best answer. Good Luck!

Obviously stretching and actually doing the splits on a regular basis is the only way you're going to improve...
~Keeping your front leg straight gives more stretch.
~An old dance teacher had us rest in the splits on top of a pillow, so that we got support, but still stretch.
For widening your straddle, you can lie down with your legs against a wall in a V, so that gravity is working for you...

Lots of slow stretching. Don't push it. You could injure yourself terribly. Always warm up before stretching. A hot bath first helps too to help relax your muscles. It will take some time but if you keep it up you can do it!

First you do a round off then you jump down and bend your legs be careful don't hurt yourself.
