If this troop surge fails (not much realistic hope for it anyway) and our president issues a new troop surge plan, will you get angry if we then say it is time to leave? At that point you must realize that Iraq is a lost cause, right?

Are you conservatives awake? Troop surges in the past have failed, and the Maliki government has not given us any insurance that he will finally step up and take required action.

You misunderstand, I love the troops. We all do. But I am just being realistic, our troop surge cannot do anything.
We have already "won" anyway. Now it's up to the Iraqi government.

What? You don't think 20K more troops will do any good against a few million pissed off insurgents?
Besides, if anyone here really supported this war, they would be enlisted. I doubt more than 1 out of ten bush supporters here are really in the military.

The troop surge is probably more of an experiment than anything. If we devote more resources and there is a positive outcome, then there's hope yet. Otherwise I foresee at least a phased withdrawal soon after due to the U.S. citizens' malcontent with the war. The problem with just getting the heck out of there is that, with as much international anger and loss of American credibility the war has caused, the consequences of a complete and utter failure to restabilize a nation that we destabilized in the first place are much more severe. I think the troop surge is most likely a last attempt at avoiding this.

I be conscious that the call exceeded and that 17 (sure, seventeen) Republicans voted for it. The Democrats are hinting that a extra binding decision would carry on with. So, it might look that the Democrats have been, incredibly effectively attempting out the water. The troop surge looks (so some distance) to have been extremely succesfull in lowering violence in Baghdad itself yet not everywhere else int he u . s . a .. the difficulty with a surge of this nature is that it is not maintainable indefinitely and the insurgents will in basic terms lie low till it passes or flow someplace else interior the country. the two way it won't "win" the conflict because of the fact, at this point, it is going to not be able to be gained. Iraq won't interior the forseeable destiny replace right into a solid, professional-Western democracy.

Because what you people don't realize is that regardless of what the ignorant policticans say Iraq is not a failure, let me explain, first I would like to say that every American soldier that GIVES his/her life is a great American and should be honored. knowing that, We should first understand that every soldier that is in Iraq took an oath to protect and defend the constitution. so do feel sorry for them lets proudly honor them. Now lets remember back to Vietnam for some perspective, That war lasted approx 10 years and we lost over 50,000 great americans. In Iraq we have liberated a country from a dictator that starved and killed his own people and that supported terrorists. And in over three years we have lost approx 3000 great american, thats pretty damn good, relatively speaking. Now we have accomplished alot the the liberal press and democrats are not showing you.. We helped Iraq rebuild their country, establish a government, have elections, build schools for children, build and train the Iraqi Army and Police forces. We have slowly released responsibilities to the Iraqis with more to come. And our soldiers say, and I quote "You either support us or you don't" You don't protest our COMMANDER IN CHIEF. and then say, but I support our troops, if you support us, shut your mouths and do something positive for us like sending us water, volunteering to a local military organization, like the Armed forces Ymca, Spouses support groups. Let us do our jobs so we can get home to our families, because we our in Iraq ......SO GET OVER IT.... and when and only when we all return, alive, injured or deceased then you can do all the protesting you want. Lets act like a united America

Do you want US troops in Bush's new surge to get killed? I don't agree with Bush's plan anymore than you do but you sound like you are cheering for it to fail only failure in this case means dead US troops. Is that what you are cheering for? Dems had every opportunity to stop Bush from invading Iraq and instead of standing on their principles they were complete cowards & voted FOR the war in Iraq. And now you are crying to get the troops out of Iraq. Bush was wrong to go to war & Dems were even more wrong to support it but until the war is over. But in the mean time keep you mouths shut because you've already done enought damage & trying to fix your major mistake by critizing the war is not going to help anything and will only get more US troops killed.

No.
The Iraqis have to step up, or our fighting force will leave. Apparently, most Americans see an American life worth more than any other.
You can criticize all you want though, because our commander in chief has power over the military. You can, however, pull the rug out from the troops' feet, like you Murtha and Pelosi supporters did.

Let's see, defeatist attitude, lack of faith in the military, and an uneducated question... You must be a Democrat, right?
Why don't you let the Iraq Study Group's recommendation of a surge (Top of page 50: http://www.usip.org/isg/iraq_study_group_report/report/1206/iraq_study_group_report.pdf ) have a chance to work, before you ask such nonsensical B.S.?

...It sounds like another terrorist attack on American soil would just make your day...
The troop surge which was called the Normandy Landing certainly did not fail. Fortunately, there were not a bunch of liberal defeatists swaying America opinion against saving Europe from Nazi rule. Hitler never attacked us but our allies were being lined up and overthrown.
To simply withdraw from Iraq will have dire consequences.

Those who approve the ":surge" are not Americans in the deep sense of patriotism, since this "surge" is in the interest of "foreign entities" , an assured failure at the expense of of more American lives.
Lieberman is one of those Unpatriotic" pushing for this agenda, obviously he is working for Israel's benefits not his Constituents in Connecticut!

Nope.. you're welcome to :) It does my heart good to see you can slam the workings of our government and our president. Not because I am taking a stand either way, but because you have the FREEDOM to do that.
See.. that's your right.
Try being a member of another country (like maybe oohhh.. Iraq?)and slamming their leader in public like this. And then maybe appreciate a little more what's trying to be done for Iraq.
