Power supplies go for 3 main reasons:

1) HEAT... Overheating due to being in closed cabinets, improper airflow, blocked cooling fans, overheated rooms, etc.
2) STATIC... Static discharges due to dry conditions and improper grounding
3) DIRT... Environments full of dust, pet hair, etc are very PC UNFRIENDLY! They block the cooling fans in the cabinet and power supply.

This is a problem with ALL PC's... not just Sony!

Finally... ALWAYS make sure your PC equipment is connected to power via a GOOD surge protector (better yet- a UPC/BATTERY supply!)

Sony is a good computer and power supplies can go out on any computer. The fan usually goes out before the PS goes.

Take it to a repair shop or send it to a store like Best Buy.

Good Luck,

they´re great laptops however about a year ago I do believe they had a recall on some battery packs that wanted to kill people (casue fires and stuff) there are many things that can cause a battery to fail, bad manufacturing, improper use, bad luck, moisture in the wrong place etc
