1) first get one of the problems into y=mx+b form ill do both
2) for 2x-y=8 you would subtract 2x from each side and get -y=-2x+8
3) multiply both sides by -1 because y can't be negative. You get y=2x-8
4) now do the other problem
5) subtract x from each side and get -2y=-x-6
6) divide by -2 and get y=1/2x+3
7) graph

ok, first you want to get it into the y=mx + b format. so, get the y by itself. for example: 2x-y=8 will become y=2x-8. now that you have that, you can proceed with the graphing. The "b" value will always give you the y-intercept. that is, where does the graph of this equation cross the y-axis. In this particular problem, it crosses the y-axis at -8. so you go down the y-axis to (0, -8) and make your first point. now, the slope is the value in front of the "x", so that is 2. basically, slope is rise over run, so this is 2 over 1. from your point (0,-8) go up two, and over to the right one. make another point. from that point, go up two, over to the right one. connect the dots and voila!

2x-y=8
subtact 2x from both sides
-y=8-2x
divide by -1
y=-8+2x
get it in the right order
y=2x-8
so to graph that, you move up 2 right 1 on the graph, but you begin at -8 on the y axis....
helped?

2x-y=8
-y=8-2x
y=-8+2x or y=2x-8

x-2y=-6
-2y=-6-x
y=3+1/2x or y=1/2x+3
