I am thinking about the New York New York. My hubby & I are going there the last week in Oct for our 10 yr anniversary. Neither of us have ever been to Vegas - and although I have been researching the different spots - there is nothing like a tip from someone who has been there. Also, where are the best places to eat on a budget? Thanks!

If this is your very first trip to Vegas - you should stay at the Wynn Hotel. It is the absolute most beautiful hotel on the strip. They will treat you like royalty and give you some of the best service you will ever receive from any hotel in the world. There are his/her robes, his/her houseshoes (shoes you can keep), plasma TV in both the bedroom and bathroom, not to mention, remote control curtains. Plus so many other amenities, too many to mention. They do have specials from time to time and if you consult a travel agent they may be able to get you in during one of those special time periods.

The Mandalay Bay and Ceasar's Palace are also outstanding choices, but if you want to treat yourself to the best - then the Wynn is the place to go.

I have personally stayed at all three hotels amongst other hotels on my several visits to Vegas and would recommend them all highly!

New York New York is a lot of fun. My hubby and I love to eat at The Nine Fine Irishmen inside of the hotel. If you're into roller coasters, they have a pretty good one. I usually like to stay somewhere near the middle of the strip so that it is easy to walk back and forth to different hotels/casinos rather than to walk the entire strip. However, you can pay $5 and ride the bus up and down the strip all day. My favorite hotel is the Aladdin, great buffet but a little expensive. Check out www.vegas.com for some ideas on inexpensive things to do. There is also a link on the website that gives you ideas for an anniversary, birthday, family, etc. You can usually find some great deals on food, gambling, and room rates by going downtown. I like to gamble downtown, but I prefer to stay and eat on the strip. Also, if you ever watch the travel channel, they sometimes have some great shows for tips or suggestions on things to do in Vegas. I just watched on with Rachel Ray and $40 a day. She spent the entire day eating in Vegas for just $40. If you can find out when some more of these programs are coming on, set your TiVo or VCR.

Have a great time and Happy Anniversary!!!

I love Vegas. I live in MICH but have been to Vegas 3 times since July 2002. I have stayed at Treasure Island twice, and got married there, and Paris once..and one night at the Stratosphere (not by choice). I like Treasure Island because it is center strip location in walking distance to Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, Harrah's (which has shuttle service to Rio for free)
, Ceasar's and Mirage.

I like NYNY and have considered staying there but the price is a little more than I like to spend. Treasure Island is a little cheaper for luxurious accomodations, but is about 15 years old while NYNY is like 5 or 7 years old...so....Plus the young hip ppl are abound at NYNY, while even though TI is trying to be more hip, there arre more 30 + age groups there.

NYNY is close to many desireable properties such as Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and others.

For eating I suggest hitting up "old Vegas" if you want buffets for cheap, and at the strip you can find small, deli-like places in the hotels that are on the cheaper side. The fasion show mall is by TI and they have eateries there.

Please check out my favorite website for all Vegas information. It is unbiased and has reviews of all the hotels, casinos, shows, restaruants, clubs, etc. plus maps and stuff. It's

www.vegas4visitors.com

Enjoy yourself, and you can always research particular places like hotels, restaurants at www.tripadvisor.com
I am a member and it is a really useful website with traveller's reviews.

The Four Seasons. A classy non-gaming hotel situated at the south end of The Strip, within the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino Complex

If "best" means "cheapest" then Vegas Villiage. It's out at the west end of the Strip but the buses turn around there so transportation is readily available and all you have to do to get back from the Strip or down town is get on a west bound bus and it takes you right there.

The Venetian in my opinion. Nice big rooms. Oh! I just saw the bit about budget, maybe try The Stratosphere, still very nice.
