my brother has an xbox 360 and is wanting to buy a hard drive for it to play online gaming. However, he doesn't have a phone line but he is saying as long as hes within so many metres of a phone line then he can play online, is this true?

No it has to be on broadband and he also has to purchase a years subscription to xbox live.

No! You can't connect to a phone line. You connect through the Internet by a modem, router or hub. You need an Ethernet cord to do this. You plug the Ethernet cord into the router and the other end into your xbox 360, then he would just have to sign up for xblive which takes all of 10 minutes. Well worth it. Lots of fun...
p.s. I recommend Halo 2!

Sounds like he's talking about using a wireless network adaptor, but like others have said he will still need a broadband connection. Unless a close neighbour with a wireless router doesn't mind him using a bit of bandwith.

call OF accountability 4 surely!!! and phone of accountability: international at conflict quickly close to Christmas. and Halo 3 the two cool oh and phone of accountability may well be no longer something without on line play. so get (X-container stay) and Halo (is extremely worth without on line play yet nevertheless ^_^

not true. and you don't need a hard drive. you must have high speed Internet before you can play. you have to buy membership at best buy,walmart,etc. etc. too. but you don't have to have a phone line for high speed Internet either.

false u can get xbox live silver account for free but it only stays for 1 month then it gets dleted but u can pay to keep it 5$ a month
