He's part Neo con, part progressive, part conservative, part fundementalist Christian, part Bush supporter, part Bush basher, part Washington outsider, part Washington insider, part independent, part reformer, part maverick, part radical, etc.... The guy has got so many parts that he almost wants to be everything to everybody in America (which he can't be) so it's impossible to figure out who & what he really is.

What the heck is he? A moderate, a radical, a progressive, a reformer, someone who will be anything just as long as it gets him elected to the Presidency?

You just gave THE definition of what a politician is. Politicians by practice go with the wind and need to adapt to every offesnive to their advantage. i don't blame him for trying and going at it the way he does. All politicians do. They all stand for their beliefs and beliefs change as often as events occur.
The issue is how well is he followed and supported by people. Maybe his ideas dont satisfy everyone, but who can prove me that there is ONE politian who appeals to 100 % of the voters ? noone.
I guess He has a track record as a veteran, he is very determined and expresses himself very strongly. He shows fire in his ways.
To be with him or against him depends on what you want for yourself and your community. That's all.

I've watched McCain over the years. I know you're right about his past record of being all over the place on certain issues. But I like that about him in that he tries to seek what's best or what's right, rather then just obeying his party affiliation. I've lived in Arizona since 1986. I've seen him in action locally. I really like the guy, he is a good person, (as far as politicians are concerned anyway). I think if I were in politics, I would be a lot like McCain. One things for sure about him, he's no spoiled rich playboy son of a senator!

He stands for naked ambition and a willingness to sacrifice principles for politics. The former "Straight Talker" and become the newest embodiment of "flip-flopper."

Its hard to believe there is actually an American citizen in office rather than a zealot of one type or another. Imagine someone who actually grasps the concept of compromise and doing something because it is right, not because it is politically popular.

Let me enlighten you. Mccain is a war hero, a fiscally responsible legislator, and a truly reform minded invidividual. When he is wrong, which is rare, he has the guts to admit it.

You are right of course in recommending him for President. I think he will make a great president, just like he is a great statesman.

I know he "stands" for violating my first amendment rights with his McCain/Feingold campaign reform.

The only, AND I MEAN ONLY, thing he's good for is that he's NOT HILLARY (or obama, or the breck girl). If it were between him and any socialist libocrat, I'd have to hold my nose and vote for him. But I hope it doesn't come to that.
