You technically sleep in 90 min cycles, so you should be either sleeping 6 hours / 7.3 hours / 9 hours a day. If you wake up in the middle of a REM cycle you feel tired coz your brain was still busy sorting out you short term memory to your long term memory.

your body needs to have a routine. so lying in wont necessarily help!! it is better to keep to a particular number of hours each night. I read in a book, that to see how much time you need, start going to bed really late for a couple of weeks. then add 15 mins onto your sleep time for a couple of weeks at a time until you find the number of hours that leaves you feeling most refreshed when you wake up!! 6 hours is a good minimum amount of time to sleep, but too much time over 8 hours isnt necessarily good for you. hope this helps!!

That is definitely true since our body needs only the right length/ amt of time to sleep. Anything that exceeds that will only make us more restless and tired. It is also true that getting more sleep than a person required will make her or him thinner than those who sleep less.

If I sleep too long, I wake up feeling really stiff and "stove up" as we say here in the south--and oddly enough, all I want ot do is go BACK to bed. I can't explain it, but is certainly is true.
