I used it a couple of times at Christmas, direct off the digi camera, with the ink tanks I got included with it. However just got the CF adapter card and thus gone back to using the machine and the colours are faint no matter how many times I deep clean the print head and there is no indication the ink is low. Have the ink tanks become dry because the "complementary" ink tanks were probably low to begin with and should I just change all the ink tanks? It is a Canon Pixma iP6700D.

Some printers come with only a small amount of ink in the complementary cartridges. Try another set of cartridges, asda cheapest and try it. If it is still faint you may have to take it back or try canon support.

Normally, I have the best of luck with my Canon Pixma. It's the best inkjet color printer that I have ever owned. But I print something at least once a week.

Sometimes it's PAPER. Sometimes it's dried up. I am not sure what your problem is. But let's try this.

- First, buy replacement cartrides (in case this fails)
- Pre-heat the oven to the minimum temperature. Probably about 175 degree F (but below the boiling point of water).
- Open the oven door and turn it off
- place the old dry cartridges on a cookie sheet
- allow cartridges to warm in the oven
- remove them from the oven and let them return to room temperature
- try running them again

Good luck and Happy Computing!

The ink tanks should last unused for a couple of months (stepdaughter's printer sat for a year unused and prints fine...) but it's possible they dried out.

If repeated cleaning doesn't make 'em work... and you say it doesn't... and trying to print the original pictures with the original method also is faint, replace the carts.

Oh, otherwise... are you printing set for 'plain' paper and using photogtraphic paper? Phot paper takes LOADS more ink to print deep colours... it tends to look really washed out if you use 'ordinary' paper setting and photo paper.

i had to take the ink cartridges out of mine and give them a clean with white spirits because when they arent used for a while the ink on the heads dries up

Hi. The software that came with the printer should allow you to set what kind of quality you print. Draft, normal, max photo, etc. Printer is too new for the cartridge to have dried up.

The print cartridges that came with it should be fine. Make sure the setting on the properties or the print menu isn't set on DRAFT.mine was doing that too, but I reset all the settings and everything is fine.
