go to your local mass retailer and get a T-Ball approved aluminum bat.
Wilson, Rawlings, Worth is fine. He will only use the bat for a year anyway. After that he will graduate from T-Ball and never want to see the bat or anything else that says T-Ball on it.
And at that age they don't hit the ball hard enough or use a hard enough ball to make a difference in what type.
Standard 25" is fine. Just make sure it's cool colors... no grrranimals or SpongeBob SquarePants on it, the other kids will make fun of him.

You also want to make sure the bat isn't to heavy. (Most of the time if it says T-Ball on the bat it wont be to heavy)

The way to see if a bat is to heavy is to hold it in the hand he swings with and point it straight out to the side, if he cant hold it out without it dipping, it's too heavy. (the bat will dip slightly) I wouldn't spend to much money on a t-ball bat like the other guys said, he'll use it for a year and then never want to see it again.

Good luck to your new little player.

Well I would go about 25-26 inch bat. The colors are really important to the kids, not as much the brand because the bats in T-ball are all about the same in quality.

Bats I reccomend:

Demarini Nitro- http://www.aluminumbats.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2716

Easton Stealth- http://www.hitrunscore.com/a112589-easton-stealth-tee-ball-baseball-bat.html

Louisville Warrior- http://www.justbats.com/products/detail_view.asp?i=5177

Louisville Exo-

My little brother swings the warrior and he loves it, the name just sounds really cool and the bat looks good, and thats all that matters to the kids

good luck
