Try mixing casual w/ more structured items.
e.g. a corderoy blazer/jacket over a tee with a cool logo, wearing a tailored shirt with a jean jacket,
Add a few key items in more luxurious fabrics.
e.g. a cashmere or merino wool sweater in a neutral color or in your favorite bold color, tweed trousers, wool skirt, a classic handbag in patent leather or suede
Try more sophisticated shoes for special occasions.
e.g. Leather boots, suede pumps, strappy leather wedge sandals.
Add sophisticated, classic jewelry.
e.g. wedding band hoops in silver or gold, pearl earrings (real freshwater or simulated), 1-inch gold hoops, chadelier earrings
Use a few accessories like a scarf or belt or tights to add a bit of polish & color to an outfit.
Try more sophisticated hair dos like low ponytails w/ a chic ribbon or a chignon. Hair bands are in this season. You can add highlights or lowlights with a few long layers to your hair for a definite but not drastic change.
Adapt or change your makeup routine. Instead of eyeliner every day, try a soft eyeshadow with mascara. Save lip gloss for evening and wear a sheer lipstick during the day.

Forever 21 (http://www.forever21.com/default.asp) has great clothes that are trendy and new for great prices. All of my friends shop there but everyone has their own style because Forever 21 has EVERYTHING... don't go to Aeropostale because that is the whole typical jeans, cargos, polo, t-shirt style. Pac Sun also has cool stuff and Charlotte Russe has a more sophisticated look, (i'm not sure how old you are or where you're from)...You can also try accessorizing, big colorful plastic jewelry is coming back. Try wearing dresses with leggings. Give your hair the slightly messy/wavy/beachy look. Have fun :)

It is really allll about accessories. You can take the same old jeans and t shirt you always wear, get a cool belt, necklace, amd bracelets and it'll look completely different.
Try adding a few accsories you wouldn't normally try for a few days, you'll be amazed at how different you look. For example find a really beautiful belt, pair it with some jeans and a shirt, and find things that accentuate that look. Also shoes are important, try different shoes, for example jeans with cool patterned flats (like leopard print) or with heels or pumps looks really hot.
And makeup helps a lot, too. Most people put on the same boring makeup every day, try using it to accentuate your outfit, like if you have on a pink shirt, try some pink shimmer eyeshadow and lip gloss, it'ss bring out your shirt.

Accessorize girlfriend :) Seriously, pick some scarves with vibrant colors, a pair of funky sunglasses, charm bracelets, barrettes, etc. (I wouldn't suggest wearing all the above at once) If money is not an issue, go ahead and buy a vintage jacket and some bright colored clothing. Also, different textures, find something lacy, something leather, even velvet. Just have fun with this venture!

For hair you can curl it or get bangs--slanted or straight. Get layers and design your hair with styling gel. I would say you should go to your hairdresser one to whom you like and trust, and ask for some advice or suggestions. You can have your hair short, long, or even dye it.
Shoes: ballet flats which can look really cute, high heals, wedges, stilettos, converse, boots with a pointed toe.
Well, if you wear flip flops your feet tend to look really cheap and really gross.
Example: http://www.thebestlinks.com/images/8/8e/Flip-flops_(worn).jpg
You can wear short, long, or medium skirts of different material. Try to get something that suits your personality while at the same time you feel comfortable in. Don't ever get anything too short or it will make you look cheap, easy, and like a whore. Even if you're not sure about the outfit try it on! As for pants you can wear jeans flared out a little at the bottom with a straight leg, put on some stilettos and you look great! Pants come in different material don't be shy to try them all on. Light or heavy sweaters with either design or no design are good. Also talking about light things if it's cool outside you can always wear a "light" jacket with some cute little design on it. There are also fashion tops, tanks, and graphic tees. Graphic tees have those band names or quotes on them, fashion tops are more creative and usually have lace or buttons, basically more design. Tanks are nice but I recommend you wear a jacket with them as they tend to look cheap otherwise. (Did I mention jeans jackets some people can wear those I however dislike them) Mix and match warm colors then opposed to that depending on the season you can experiment with brighter cooler colors lets say for...spring! When you go punk make it cute and follow the rules from What Not to Wear!
You can sit down and examine while enjoy the show "What Not to Wear" on TLC
They also have a website so just search for it or here:
http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/whatnottowear/whatnottowear.html
They give good tips! ^.~
Remember whenever you're thinking of purchasing an outfit before you do make sure you have bottoms or tops to match. Another thing, sometimes an outfit speaks for itself but if it’s too simple get some accessories. Accessories need to be just as color coordinated as your outfit.
For example: Necklace, rings, bracelet, head band, earrings, and so on....
~Happy hunting.
(Some big advice, don't follow celebrities!)
And, excuse any typos grammar wise. =)

Mini skirt would definitely help. Check out www.pinkmoda.com the mini skirt is 50% off. And get a haircut with lots of layers and style your hair, don't put it up in ponytail.

accessorizing is always the best trick to make an outfit more interesting. but you really have to find your look, dont worry you will one day. last year, it was just like jeans and a graphic tee with earrings. i just found mine this year. i suggest you look for more dressy clothes besides tshirts. cardigans, sweaters, baby dolls, empire waists, etc.

You could try doing something with your hair, like putting it in rollers one night, or the classic style, Pin curls.
Pin curl the front/bangs of your hair
then put the rest of your hair in rollers
let them sit over night
if your hair is long enough braid it the next day..
I think it looks classy.
