To clarify one quick thing: the linesmen are the ones who drop the puck for the face-off.
A player is tossed from the face-off circle if he "jumps the gun" and prematurely tries to draw the puck back before the linesmen drops it; or if he is delaying the face-off from happening through his actions at the face-off Ts. If he is replaced and the second player is also tossed from the face-off circle, this will result in a delay of game penalty for the team that was tossed.
Hope that helps.

Being to aggresive is a reason, but also the player who backs off may not like going up against a left hander. The ref doesn't always make that decision.

Just to add info from the previous answers
Sometimes the drawers get kicked out from the face-off because their teammates jumped the gun. So it's not always the drawers fault.
and i think the delay of game penalty only happens when it's the same player that jumps the gun. <---- i could be wrong about this one. The first parts right

Because they are either being too agressive, tying up the others stick, or just moving the stick up and down in an attempt to catch the puck on one of the motions

They want the players to not interfere with each other and simply try to possess the puck. You used to be able to tie up you opponent and try to kick the puck to your team, but a penalty will be called now.

Maybe they're anticipating too much and they move their stick before the ref drops the puck.

several resons team on their side of ice must put their stick on ice second same on other end so if man on offence wont he will be removed or if he lift stick from ice after other one puts his down same or if they try to put their skate acrooss the center of circle to gain a good spot.

Also, it may happen because they're not positioned correctly (there are those lines in the circle to determine foot placement).
