He is just adjusting no doubt, I wouldn't worry abot that too much. He is flaring on the TV due to the vibrations from the sound and that's not really good for him at all. Flaring his fins is not bad for him, but the vibrations in the water will stress him even more so please keep him off the TV and away from stereo speakers, much better for his health.
Best of luck with him!

Bettas aren't all that active by nature. What temperature is the tank. If you're keeping him at room temperature and the house is cool (high 60's or low 70's) the fish will be lethargic. Betta like water about 80 to be really active.
Feeding- I feed my bettas twice a week and it's plenty. They don't really eat alot.
Still if you don't have a heater don't worry, he'll be fine. I would suggest a 2 1/2 gallon for a betta to give them enough room.
Flaring is a fighting behavior which the use for threating other bettas and making themselves look bigger. When you put him on the TV he's reacting to the vibrations and noise of the TV. Basically your stressing him out and this would not be a good long term condition for him. Better to keep him in a quiet place and show him a mirror once in while to see him flare his fins.

I remember when I first got Bob, my (now dead) betta, he was still kind of "shy" and "nervous" of his new surroundings. I have had many different kinds of bettas, and it just depends on the 'personality' of your betta. After a few days, your betta should be fine and will be swimming around. If he has a big tank, than he may swim around a bit, but if it's a smaller tank, it may not move that much because of the amout of space he as to swim around in. So give it a few days.
About the fins, it is normal when their fins are flared, but if it's flared out a LOT, he might be scared and not like it on top of the TV. Bettas tend to flare out their fins when they are scared, or if they think they are going to be attacked.
Hope your betta is live and active soon =]

Betta's are also called Siamese fighting fish because two males can fight to the death. They flare their fins and tail out to make themselves look bigger. They probably don't like to be aggravated all the time. I have mine on the middle of my kitchen table so he can see all the activity going on around him. But a coffee table or end table would do. They aren't really very active fish in the first place. They just kind of hang out. Don't put him where he gets diffect sun for any length of time or the water could get to hot. Take care not to overfeed. Only 1-3 pieces of Betta food a day is plenty. They will learn to come to the same place in the bowl to eat and appear to be looking at you. Who knows, maybe they are. Enjoy your new fish. He should live for a long time. When you add or change water be sure to put in Right Start or another brand of conditioner at the same time. This protects the slime coat on your fish.

Bettas flaring is a normal thing for bettas. They do it to defend their territory against other bettas. Just try putting a mrirror near by. (Note while an hour or so of mirror time per week is healthy. Long it's stressful.)
I'd not put him on a TV. Vibrations from the TV will stress him out. Plus water isn't good for the TV. That said bettas have good eye sight, and enjoy being a busy room. (Provided they have a spot to hide when they want.) People have claimed that their bettas enjoy watching TV.

Please don't place a betta(or any fish for that matter) on top of a TV or stereo. That would end up stressing them out and making them more prone to disease.
He might not be very active because the water may be too cold for him. Bettas like their water temperature to be consistent. His water temperature should be anywhere from 75F to 80F. Also, if you have him in a small container or bowl, you may want to consider putting him in a tank/bowl of at least 2.5 gallons. He'll have a lot of swimming room and you can get a 25 watt heater for it. It's also good to have some plants and decorations for him to hide in and never leave a light on him 24/7! Bettas need a certain amount of darkness just like we do.

you dont could purchase yet another tank basically circulate to walmart or petsmart and purchase a gold fish bowl and he or she would be chuffed that way she will consume and don't problem approximately gettin attacked! If a girl that wasn’t ripe, or waiting for spawning, would have entered a men tank, it’s possible that she would’ve been attacked, as non-ripe women are actually not tolerated in the area of the nest. via no longer fleeing, a girl shows her readiness to spawn. particular, some cases while you're actually not careful whilst attempting too breed bettas, the male will attack the female and he can injure the female, the girls are lots smaller than the lads. A Male and a girl: in the wild, women save faraway from men, different than throughout mating. whilst cohabiting in tanks, men would kill women, and are many times saved aside except (a) they're juvenile siblings, (b) they're breeding, (c) there's a partition, or (d) the tank is sufficiently great for the female to flee attack. many times, earlier breeding, breeders use one among those field to permit lady show without risking harm via the male. 2 or extra women: Bettas are actually not training fish, yet in a great tank with many hiding areas, lady bettas can cohabit. whilst 2 women share a tank, one many times bullies the different, in spite of the undeniable fact that, 4 or extra women will set up a hierarchy permitting non violent co-existence, in spite of the certainty that, women residing in community could be monitored for aggressive women.

I think that if a Betta's fins flare up it means it is angry. If you have only one betta then you can put it in a small tank and it would be fine.

How many gallons is your tank? If the tank is too small your betta won't have any room to be active. Also check your tempature, if it is lower than 80 degrees your fish may be too cold. Or he could be sick so check him carefully. I really don't think the T.V thing is a good idea, abrupt noises or sounds can scare you fish and they can get harmed on decorations ect. There are a lot of different reasons why your fish may not be active.
