The short answer is because there's no such thing as a "white light frequency". White light is already a combination of colors, each with their own radiation frequency.

The "white light" is the combination of ALL light in the light spectrum. When this white light passes through a prism, the light is separated and that light that humans can readily see is seen, the rest isn't. Prisms work by bending light as it flows around the prism molecules inside the prism.

it is because the speed of the different colors are not all the same, red light is slower then blue light.

White light is composed of all colors. When the light falls on a prism, the blue light leaves the prisma earlier then the red light ,
that is about why it is split .

Because white light is comprised of several wavelengths combined. When it passes through a prism it is bent slightly at their respect wavelengths to reveal the colors.

Each color (of which white has been composed) has been broken different.
Red the weakest, violet the strongest. This has been called dispersion.
Each color has its own index of refraction.
