Start young. When you go to the store to pick out clothing, make selections that aren't hideous, and let your child pick the ones they like. When your child gets a little older, teach them how to do things they ask you to do for them every day. Example: My daughter asks for water ALL THE TIME. We taught her how to be a tool-using-primate and get the stool, the cup, the ice, and the water all on her own. When she wants to buy something, I give her the money and have her talk to the cashier herself. She really loves it, and it teaches her that she's a real person with a presence in this world. ^_^ I guide her and she learns, and it's awesome.

have long discussions with them, tell them your opinion on things, set them enjoyable tasks to do, encourage them to become involved in as many of your activities as possible, so theey can inter act with people outside the home, and feel confident with adults.always praise, and encourage, as if it was you, venturing out in a strange and sometimes alien world.

that's significant for the ecosystem to be risk-free, so as that youngsters can take risk-free, supervised risks. this might help them to discover what they could and can't do, motivate progression, and build their self assurance. If little ones by no skill take risks, they'll by no skill strengthen the two bodily or in self assurance.

ASK THEM TO MAKE CHOICES FROM VERY YOUNG. LIKE IF THEY WANT 2 THINGS, ASK THEM WHICH 1 THEY WANT MORE & TELL THEM THAT THEY CAN ONLY HAVE THE 1(EVEN IF U CAN AFFORD MORE). LIFE IS ALL ABOUT MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES & DECISIONS & IT DEF HELPS IF U'R USED TO MAKING CHOICES!

MAKE SURE THEY DO SOMETHING FOR U IF YOU'RE GIVING THEM ALLOWANCE; LIKE TIDYING THEIR ROOM. NO TIDYING NO ALLOWANCE. & WHEN THEY ASK FOR SOMTHING LIKE A RAISE IN ALLOWANCE OR TO BUY FANCY SHOES, TELL THEM THEY HAVE TO DO SOMTHING EXTRA LIKE CLEAN UP AFTER THEY EAT (OR SOMTHING), OR THAT THEY JUST HAVE TO SAVE UP THEIR ALLOWANCE TILL THEY HAVE ENOUGH TO GET WHAT THEY WANT. THAT WAY THEY'LL KNOW NOTHING IN LIFE IS GIVEN TO U JUST BECAUSE U WANT IT; U HAVE TO WORK FOR EVERYTHING U WANT

WHEN PARENTS TAKE THEM SHOPPING & THEY WANT EVERYTHING THEY LIKE, GIVE THEM A TENNER & SAY THATS WHAT U HAVE NOW GO GET WHAT U WANT!

Wait till they're ten. Give them a tenner, give them a gun and then tell them to go and make their own way in life!
Works every time!

Tell them that they can do it on their own, that you are proud of them and even if they make a mistake, you are only a step behind them!
