Whew, hard question to answer as there was so much great music from the 80's in many different genres (pop, rock. metal, rap, techno/new wave) but I was partial to the metal scene and I could list 100 and 100 of songs just in that area.
Was a great time, Micheal Jackson was normal, and female popstars werent showing off the goods, shaving their heads, living in rehab and all the music as FUN!!!!!. Long live the 80's!!!

Too many to list. Like so many generation X-ers it was the decade where we paid most attention to music as it was a key time in our lives. Anything by Level 42, The The, Tears for Fears and many more for me, but also it was a decade that produced some of the best and most classic One Hit Wonders in history, again too many to list.

Anything by Wham or Spandau Ballet!!

But, the ultimate best song of the 80s is Different Corner by George Michael!

I think it would depend on your prefrence of music.

Pop. Thriller
Rock. Living on a prayer.
Metal. Master of Puppets
Rap. Ice Ice Baby
Country. A Country Boy Can Survive

That is in my opinion. one of the best ways to find out is through billboard. They have records of the number 1 songs.

If you have ITunes, you can check the music store for ITunes Essentials. They have several 80's albums with the greatest pop, 1 hit wonders, etc. Very good compilations.

Anything that was introduced by Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, J. J. Jackson and/or Martha Quinn (you know, back in the days when MTV was exclusively music videos), would qualify for me!
