The winner gets their story published in the yearbook. It can be about anything but it has to be appropriate for school (obviously). I was just wondering if anyone could give me ideas.. I'm sort of in a writers block, but once I get an idea I find it easy to write about.

Thanks ♥

What about someone who has a learning disability but doesn't know that. His parents are too busy with work to have him checked out. And the child suffers low self esteem because he can't seem to understand or do the work. One good, caring teacher takes an interest in him and arranges for him to be tested. The tests show that what he really needs is emotional support and attention from his parents - that he doesn't have a learning disability at all. The teacher tells the parents, who realize that they have truly neglected this child and turn around their methods, and the child flourishes and becomes successful.

When you think about your school, what sort of ideas does it inspire? You may want to try to brainstorm by just writing down anything and everything that comes to mind when you think about your school.

Put the list aside for a couple of hours. Then try the free-association again. And maybe a third time. Then go through your list and see if you have a story idea there.

You want a story that expresses *your* feelings about *your* school. Having people give you ideas won't really help win the contest, I believe.

Good luck with it!!

Go to the link in my sources. There are all sorts of story/plot/theme generators. They won't be very original, of course, but you can build from them and get some good ideas. Hope it helps!
