why more people haven't jumped on this question is beyond me.

Here in America we are too censored period. We don't see everything that is going on in other countries. We don't see all the bad things our own government is doing. But you can see on da*n near every news source when a stupid pop star shaves her head.
I hate the news. TV, Internet, Newspaper, Radio, I don't care, its mostly junk.

I think it's a tough call. My knee-jerk reaction is that Censorship is anti-american; however, I think about what Thomas Jefferson said in regards to freedom. He said "Freedom is not free" which is a very true statement. Just becasue we have the freedom to say what we want in the media, does not mean that we ought to in all circumstances. As far as "curse" words are concerned, they are more space fillers for an unintelligent argument or arguer. Censorship relative to what we see is another thing. It depends on what our morals are. If you are conservative, as I am, you may want to restrict viewing sexual images for your young children. Most can agree that such a decision is up to a parent and NOT to the Government.

What I would love to see in our culture and in particilar in our media hungry society, is self-censorship. I would like to see media leaders censoring themselves under the guise of good taste and decency. Media coverage is often too salatious to really connunicate the content of the story at hand. Media executives need to decide if it is going to be entertainment or information - not "infotainment".

There is a time and place for everything including censorship. Should the government censor? - Absolutely not. Should we as a society sensor ourselves? - at times, yes. Most importantly, should Americans change their way of thinking so that they truly demand good and decent content from out media outlets? Answer - yes.

Thanks for putting the question out there...

If all the flaws of the media, and each newspaper, became owned and printed by utilising a distinctive individual, then i might say "No censorship", yet once you have situations like Murdoch's **** brigade possessing 3/4 of the click, and utilising it to easily unfold lies and drip feed brainwash into the vacant a lot contained in maximum human beings of the witless public's heads, by no skill ideas censorship, close the entire bloody lot down. Is that ******* humble sufficient for you?

censorship should be done ONLY is it involves giving out secrets that affects the military safety.or if it is later proven in court that the news they give out could directly involve the citizens safety such as them telling when a truck is traveling along a certain highway with nuclear isotopes ,plutonium.etc.to make nukes with,so people want know were to attack that truck, something like that.
Curse words should be outlawed.from any news source to protect children , old people & others who don't wish to hear that filth.
If the feds get where they can control the media any ole way they wish. then we need another revolution
But the news companys do it for money, this is a capitilist country after all.we have to remember that, its what sells, what people seem to be enterested in in what they tell us.
