I did the search for my SN and found the motor to be a 1977. It doesn't have a propellor on it. I found one on Ebay that was for a 60's model. Will that fit? Where can I find the right one if not? Anyone have a part number?

Seems to me 68 thru 79 was the same prop. A 9X9 2 blade or a 9X7 3 blade. See if you can get a MichMatch from Cabelas' part # IH-010355.......It's cheaper if you go through Cabelas'. Mercury is going to tell you the same size. It's 9x7, that's a standard prop for a 14' boat. Not a lot of options on a small motor like that. The 2 blade is a speed prop. And again, part # IH- 010355!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most boat propellors are a compromise beween speed and power. If you have the motor on a larger sailboat for instance it will need a different pitch than for a dinghy. Call a Mercury dealer with your application and he will suggest the best prop for you.

Gordon B is right. My Michigan Wheel Corp catalog shows 3 OEM PNs and 3 Michigan PNs for your outboard depending on the boat (weight) application. Your Merc dealer should be the authority.
In my case for a 115hp Merc, the local dealer wasn't particularly knowledgeable but a shop that specializes in props fixed me up. We went over the specs (full throttle rpms) selected a prop that was right for the load and boat use. The first prop didn’t achieve the performance specs, so we went with one having slightly less pitch (no additional cost) that hit the numbers.
