Our last name is Clark (very common...) so I figured I'd strive for something unique. I'm having a boy in late march so I'm wondering what people think of this name-
Nixon Clark
full name: Nixon Paul Clark

I've known other kids named this, and really do you think little boys named Clinton will be THAT ridiculed? Kids these days don't know all the presidents lol trust me, its the public school system... and think, people are still naming babies George- not everyone thinks of politicians off the bat.

I suggest you come up with another first name. One reason is that your son will probably not use it in the first place, because unusual or uncommon names are frequently passed upon by the wearers of them, and they wind up using their middle name instead. I have a brother who uses his middle name only, although his first name is perfectly conventional. A second reason is that the name Nixon also conjures negative images in the minds of many people because of its association with one of our not so illustrious past presidents.
There have been numerous studies done which look into the effects of a child's first name on their self-esteem, their income, and their general chances of living a successful life. These studies have shown that children given unusual or odd names frequently, though not always, come up short when measured against children with more conventional names. I'm not an apologist for those who would abuse or judge others because of their name. I am simply pointing out the realities of life. For your son's future happiness and well-being, I seriously recommend you consider giving him another name. Don't name a child based on whether you think the name is cute. Give him or her a name which will be an asset to them throughout their entire life. That is one of the most precious gifts I think any parent can give their child. One answerer has suggested the name Nicholas, which is related etymologically to Nixon, and is more conventional. It also has the advantage of having a strong meaning. It derives from the Greek and means 'the people's victory.' One can't have a much more charmed name than that.

Nixon is okay...it kind of reminds me of my teacher too much though, his name is Mr. Nixon and so I always think of Nixon as some old guy with white hair. My friend's name is Evan Clark and I always thought that was cool (even though it's not extremely un-common).

If you go w/Nixon, you may want to spell it differently, like Nickson so that people wont associate him w/the ex-prez. Other than that, I think that Nickson Paul Clark is cute.
Other unique N names you may consider: Nash, Nanson, Nevan, Nicolai, Niles, Norton

Sorry, there is just something I don't like about it. It isn't the name Nixon...it is more that it just sounds like three names thrown together with no flow or roll off the tongue.

I'm pregnant too and we're considering NIXON too! Totally cool name. People told me that it might make people think of president Nixon and the whole watergate scandal and say "I am not a crook" to him, but I don't care. Another cool spelling we've found is NICKSON. I love that too. Go for it!
