Hello, I hope everyone is doing good today. I am 8 weeks pregnant and I have already started thinking about things Im going to need for my first new born child. I have alot of people saying to me dont think about it until you are at least 4 months because I could have a miscarriage. But I dont want to think that I could miscarry. I just want to think happy thoughts, enjoy my pregnancy and stay calm and happy. But anywho I was thinking about starting to save up on somethings..Mostly diapers. so with that being said mommies how many diapers per month do you think ill need. From newborn to a year I know there is not way to tell exacty but just roughly how did you and your little blessing go thru diapers at there ages.

Don't buy newborn... you won't even make it through a pack (depending on your baby). My baby was 9lb 6 oz, and went straight into size 1.
I recommend you wait until your baby comes before loading up on diapers. You may think there is a brand you wan tto use, but that brand might not work for your baby's body shape, or they might have a reaction to them.
Go to all the baby related websites and get some free samples... Huggies, Pampers, Nestle, etc.

I think a better idea would be to put a certain amount of money into a special account... and when baby arrives it wil be there to get those needed items.

My little girl (7 lbs at birth) was in newborn diapers til she was about 4 or 5 weeks old. She was in size 1 until about 3 months and then moved up to size two which she is ALMOST outgrown now that she just turned 6 months old.

We go through about 7 diapers a day, so that's a mega pack per every week and a half to two weeks. Now, of course this varies, some days we go through less and others more. I would think if you bought about 3 packs of every size that would be about right, but then again you don't want to have some left over if baby outgrows them.

I would hold off on buying too big of sizes, my son never made it past size 4...he was pretty petite and was in pull-ups by 18 months and potty trained at 26 months.

Congratulations and best of luck :-)

Well, first off, congrats! As far as diapers go, I wouldn't buy too many now. I got loads of boxes for my baby shower and ended up giving so many away because my son grew out of them too fast. He was too big for newborn diapers right from the beginning. You just can't predict how big and how fast your baby will grow.

Also, babies use WAY more diapers when they are newborns. I think when my son was a newborn we used like 15 or more a day. He would always go the second we had a new diaper on him! As they get older and start eating solids, they poop less and don't need to be changed as frequently.

If you are worried about the outlay of cash for them, just start putting away the money you would spend on them, and you can buy them as you need them later on with the money you've saved now. Then money won't be wasted on diapers you end up not being able to use.

Good luck with the pregnancy and new baby!

Well my baby was born 7 pounds and stayed in newborn diapers till almost 2 months.

I started out using cloth diapers for the first 2 months. That's honestly the easiest time to use them, and the best. You can keep track of exactly how many pees your baby makes. And at that age, they aren't usually soaking through them completely so no worries about leaks. I used the ones from wal mart but he has outgrown them now. I'm looking to try some online order fleece diapers.

I had one pack of newborn diapers and 36 cloth diapers and 12 cloth diaper covers for the first two months... Didn't buy more of anything till he hit 2 months.

Honestly I'd say dont stock up on diapers. I did and ended up with way too many size 1 and 2 diapers. My son went through newborn-2 pretty fast. If you want to stock up on diapers go with size 3 and 4. But just know your child wont be in those sizes till 6 months or so. Every child is different. Best of luck with yours!

Oh lord. I can't even begin to count the number of diapers I used with my two kids during their first year of life! A lot, to say the least. :) I'd say maybe a case every two weeks, give or take. My guys are 20 months and 3 (well, he'll be three on Friday!) and I can give you a bit of advice. Try all different brands, but stay away from the super cheap diapers. With my first son, we used nothing but Pamers and Huggies. With my second one, we went to the Kroger brand and Target brand (and threw in some Pampers or Huggies only if they were on sale) and they really work equally well, in my opinion. They're about half the cost of the premium brand diapers, too.

Honestly, with a newborn (up to about 3 - 4 months old, maybe) you can count on changing your baby's diaper every 30 minutes to an hour, on average. As they get older, they don't pee as frequently.

Good luck to you, congrats, and don't worry about miscarriage. EVERY woman I know who has been pregnant has this worry (along with about a billion other "what if's?" and it's needless worrying, really. Your baby will be perfect, healthy and beautiful, so try to enjoy your pregnancy! :)

Take it from a mother of two, stocking up on diapers is not a good idea. Every baby is born a different size and they grow at different times. My daughter was in a size 3 diaper until she was potty trained at 3 1/2, my son is already in a size 3 a he is only 1. Stocking up is a great idea, but you just never know how big or small the baby will be. You could always just save the money.

A good rule to live by when investing in your baby's diapers...the smaller the size, the less you'll need. So don't hoard all those newborn diapers you get from your baby shower...exchange them for bigger sizes that no one ever gives you! Otherwise, you'll wish you had when you're trying to squeeze your little one into a diaper that's too small so you don't waste anything:)

Also, if you really want to start stocking up on stuff, I'd start with wipes. You won't get nearly as much as you need, there's no size to worry about, and you'll need wipes for 2 or 3 years, if not more:) I would stick to the unscented and mild kinds, since you can't foresee how sensitive your baby's skin will be.

Good luck:)

Be careful.. if your baby is big, you may not even need newborn size diapers. I had an average size baby (7 lbs. 15 oz.) and I only used about 150 (3 packages) of newborn diapers. Right now he is 2 months and still on size 1, but they are getting tight. Whatever you buy, keep the receipts, that way if you end up not needing them you can exchange them for the size you need. Good luck and congratulations!

CONGRADULATIONS

The average newborn uses 12 diapers a day as the baby grows older they need less diapers to about 6-8 at a year old. I cant be any help on sizes however since I use a one sided cloth diaper system for my daughter.
