I am currently thinking about buying a macbook, I have never used a mac before, and I was wondering if there are any downsides to getting a mac, such as hardware problems, crashings, compatability with peripherals, and other things. So if anyone has an opinion about this, can you please let me know. All answers are welcomed.

Macs are superior in every way - faster, WAY WAY more reliable, cooler, etc
there did used to be 1 downfall:
macs could not run all programs because some only ran on microsoft xp or now vista
but now if your buy software you can use microsoft programs as well
this is not nessecary, but if you wanted to play games like FIFA 07, something like that then now you can do it on a mac
you can get microsoft word and everything
get a mac they are way better

To start, hardware problems exist in all computers. I however have had good luck, I have had a powerbook for 2+ years no problems. Crashing, mine NEVER has. compatibility is very good. As long as the peripherals are supported by MAC(it will say so on the box) you will be surprised how easy they work. Mine is still great after 2+ years, no slow, no spyware, no virus, no blue screen. There are some issues with programs hanging, this probably more due to the app because the OS is untouched. I am glad I switch.

I have a Macbook and Macbook Pro that I use for producing live events and playing back multimedia.

No crashes, no problems, no compatibility problems.

Absolutely love owning Macs! You won't regret it.

Get the warranty too - it's really good and the service is amazing!

Mac's are absolutely the best! I switched a year ago and would never go back! I won't lie if your a serious gamer you might not be satisfied with the lack of titles for Mac otherwise it stomps all over the competition!
