After watching the carling cup final where the referee sent off the wrong man (Adebayor instead of Eboue, they basically got the wrong black player) and remembering the disgraceful refereeing during the last world cup of the man who was supposed to be England's finest referee (Graham Poll), I wonder why the level of refereeing in the Premiership is so bad and if it has distorted the way the english see the game. Is it because of this "distortion" that the english fans always believe they are being victimized by referees decisions at every major international tournament?

I mean come on week in week out we have poor decision after poor decision! They do not let the game flow and are always making irrational decisions!

Lets get some decent refs in!

Objectively, no of course not. For starters, there has never been an incident of any British referee accepting a bribe. In Italy and South America, there have been many such proven incidents. I'd say that taking a bribe instantly marks you out as a pretty terrible ref, wouldn't you agree?

Tell me one single nation anywhere in the world where, at each and every match, the fans, coach and players all agree that the referee was excellent...and then I might agree you have a point. But you know as well as I do that refs have a very difficult job, will always make errors because they are human, and are only judged to have had a "good game" when they are invisible.

"Your on Skysports", last night, Peter Beagrie, Steve Claridge and Gary Newborn all agreed that "the Referee was the best in the country. He was not responsible for the sending off. He did so, on the advice of the linesman. The referee did not see the incident."

They agreed, that he refereed the game superbly. Claridge spoke to him before the game. He said, "that if the public did not notice him, he had done his job".

They said that he was calm and unassuming, however, he had a quiet air of authority, which the players probably respected.

Wouldn't argue with what you say about Poll. However, all referees in this country have to handle matches that are played at a much higher tempo than the Continentals. I'd like to see how they got on in the Premiership?

I don't know, where were the refs from who refereed the USA Italy game in the World Cup?? Cause they did a horrible job. Eddie Pope got sent off for accidently tapping a guy's heel from behind!!

I would suggest that the standard of refereeing is in tandem with the standard of football so English refereeing is probably amongst the best in the world and would be even better if they were allowed to man-manage by their own bosses.

No its not the worst. In scotland we have to contend with refs that are supporters of Rangers and Celtic and give them the soft penalty claims. They also have no bottle at Ibrox or Parkhead.
There is an old joke- Why is there never any scottish games on a thursday night?
All the refs are at the masonic lodge.

Good god no. While our refs are by no means perfect, look at some of the ones in the rest of the world, where diving is encouraged and any contact results in a yellow card.

Referee tends to make mistakes as they are human they cant see anything. Why not officials indorse camera review so that its more accurate in deciding the foul.
