I have been married for almost 7 years. My husband has a 13 year old son from a previous relationship and pays child support. His son's mother recently got married and then moved away w/out leaving a forwarding address. We cannot find them anywhere. We called the child support agency and they said they could not give us her address. What can we do? My husband feels terrible about this. He doesn't want his son to think he doesn't care about him. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

There is no abuse involved. She is a really great mother. I know she loves him very much. They were young when and had only date for 3 mnths, were already broken up way before they found out she was pregnant. When my husband went to sign up to pay child support they gave him visitation w/ the mother present. He was just a young kid then. He didn't fight it. He didn't have the money, or really the understanding of the big picture. You know we change a lot in 13 years.

Unfortunately the courts are usually not in the fathers favor. If their isn't a legal reason for your husband not to see his son and he has legal visitation he needs to get a lawyer (a lawyer that will fight) on it and file a lawsuit against the boys mother. Do I think he'll get more than the address probably not, but since she just up and moved without saying anything the mother and new husband should be paying for what it costs for the son to see his father. Maybe the mother has something to hide she could be abusing the boy or allowing her new husband to. Your husbands and his sons rights have been violated.
I live in a different state than my son and she can do whatever she wants. Good luck

Take it to court. A judge will probably decide that the agency will have to give up her address. In my divorce agreement me and my ex have to inform each other of any address change. If that is in his as well she could be in trouble for not giving him the information. Also I am wandering if the son is 13 why does he not call his dad??

If there was a custody order in place and visitation...if they moved out of state without the consent...it is Custody Interference and abduction....it is time to talk to an attorney

He needs to seek an attorney. You are looking for a long and drawn out deal. The court system and child support enforcement are a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is obviously a reason why your husbands first wife divorced him. What he abusive? Did he rape the child? His first wife probably moved to protect the child. It would be best for your husband to realize that he made a mistake in his past marriage, and he needs to move on and if he really loves his child, he should stay away from the child for the child's own safety.
