Don't we ostracize the smart people in society because we hate feeling stupid? We love to make fun of Einstein. You hear more about his "poor math skills" and sock habits than anything actually meaningful. We love to watch dummies like Forest Gump...makes us feel smart. Is that what's going on in America between theists and atheists?

I think if you just look at how smart or dumb a person is you are missing out on a lot of learning experiences in your life. You can learn from everyone from severely mentally handicapped to those who most would consider "smart". I don't think people who are speaking of Einstein's shortcomings are saving themselves from feeling stupid, but realizing that we are all human and more alike than we readily realize. Perhaps if you watch Forrest Gump with this attitude, you will too. America is 85% Christian (not sure on the other stats) and I don't believe only 15% (at the most) of Americans are "smart" (like you).

Well, I am intellectually gifted, but I have never felt ostracized...its more about my attitude than others I think. I could make others feel lesser, or ignorant...or I can be loving and accepting of each person for the gifts they have.

And no...I see no connection whatsoever between intelligence and atheists. Also remember, there are many, many kinds of intelligence and some people get none of it.

Wow, you're really searching for some reassurance there aren't ya. Atheists shouldn't care about being right, as there is no God you follow..no "punishment" for not obeying a higher power. Therefore, why do you care so much about being right, or "smart". We theists are trying save you from where we believe you will go if you don't know Christ. Just where is it that Atheists are worried we theists will go if we don't "convert" to Atheism? Heaven.....perhaps?

Probably. Religion hates logic, or at least the fanatically religious seem to. But some of the stories are nice, and if not taken to an extreme a philosophical underpinning is a good thing to have in ones repertoire

Nice pic by the way.

Not everyone hates smart people. Most people dislike arrogant people and most atheist come off as seeing their lack of faith as an indication of intelligence. Many then imply those with faith lack intelligence. It's not the intelligence, but the condescension that attracts such ire.

Your argument is logically fallacious.

At best you are Suggesting a correlation, but not supporting it with fact. Your conclusion is that, "to be smart is to be Athiest".

This is probably an accurate conclusion, but while you most likely fall into the one category (Athiest), I would be very surprised if you fell into the other (smart).

Good luck with all that.

All A are X.
All B are X.
Therefore, all B are A.

I'm sure that's some kind of fallacy, but I'm just a sock-wearing theist, so what do I know.

Maybe YOU ostracize people who frighten you intellectually, but to project your particular neurosis onto theists, and then attempt to switch sides, is just silly. Atheists are no smarter than theists, they just feel superior because they rely on information handed down from "scientists" instead of information handed down from "priests". What's bizzare is watching atheists argue their stance with blind religious fervor. One observable fact of humanity, those who act superior seldom are.

happy you acquire up woodland Gump by way of fact your fact jogs my memory of something he constantly stated. What became that back? Oh yeah, "stupid is as stupid does" and apparently you do. this is the only connection i could desire to discover. by utilising the way in case you unquestionably watched the action picture, woodland Gump became far from being dumb. Like, Lt. Dan stated, "do no longer you call him stupid."

peopll hate to be shown how stupid and ignorant they are..

just go to any Christian web chat site and you are NOT allowed to talk down to anyone or at any theory of god or religion..if it's so true then why are they so scared of some debate over the alleged facts???
why???????

Because they are scared of your open mind and especially the truth!!.. they don't want their make-believe bubble to be
'proved false'..in a place where truth does not exists.... on imaginations..
