The heat from the water can cause burns to their skin, and if their face/head is under the water it could cause brain damange, it could damange their brain cells. Please be careful when young children are in the hot tub. It really could be dangerious

This may be horribly incorrect, but I always thought that it was a matter of the temperature of the water and the body mass/density. With children, they're much smaller, usually, and because of this they are less dense and the temperature of the water could actually have an effect on their body temperature. And if they're kids like any of the kids I've ever known, they go right from the hot tub to the swimming pool - which is dangerous in that it is rumored to induce hypothermia.

I once saw a show on a little girl that got her hair stuck in the filter. It kept her down and drowned her.
