Unfortunately most companies are "at will" employers and that means they don't have to have a reason to terminate you. If you feel you've been discriminated for some reason and can prove it then you should talk to an attorney, otherwise you won't have much of a case.

You need to research the case law in your state. If your state is an "at will" employment state then you can be fired for any or no reason at all. So long as you were not fired on grounds of race, gender, age, etc. you probably have no case. Seek unemployment and start looking in the classifieds!

I think that it depends on what state you live in. I live in AZ and we are a "right to work" state. In states like mine, to undermind unions they have little clauses that make it so you can be fired whenever a company wants to fire you for whatever reason.
I also think that sometimes companies won't tell you why they fired you and then make up an excuse in documents later, or at the time of your firing.
I don't know any lawyers sorry

Most states are "at will." This means that you can terminated without cause and without notice.
Unless you believe you were fired for illegal discrimination, you won't likely win a lawsuit if you're in an "at will" state.
However, if they start to spread lies about you, then you have a defamation case.

It depends on the state that you live in and the rules that they have governing it, and also the employer's reason, you may not think that they have a reason but they may

Did you have a contract?
Do you live in a Right to Work state?
Is there any reason to believe you were terminated for an illegal reason (your sex, your race, not boffing the boss, etc)

There must have been some reason. How were your evaluations? Were you competent? Most lawsuits are dismissed unless the behavior is recorded on video.

Anybody can sue anybody for anything. Whether the case has any merit, or if you'll win, that's another story.
