I think he's an amazing drummer. I love all of Queen's songs. Especially We Will Rock You.

I suppose the question must be, how do you rate a good drummer?

For example, look at Ringo Starr of the Beatles, technically not a superb drummer but what he did, and how he did it, was near perfection. Using a smaller drum kit to perfection.

With Roger Taylor, he tended to use big drum kits, sometimes using more than 24 pieces (in fact I am sure he once in concert played a 48 piece drum kit).

Perhaps there are other more 'technically' better drummer out there but Roger Taylor's style was suite to the band in the same way that the band were suited to each other.

Take any of the members of Queen out and the group definetly lacked something, The whole is bigger than the parts.

Roger Taylor played a specific role and it is fair comment to say that he let no one down and in fact regularly played extremely well, and wrote some decent songs.

Perhaps there are better drummers, but Roger Taylor definetly had a lot of talent and personally I would rate him very highly.

I stayed at a B and B next door to his mum and dad in Cornwall in 1979 or 1980. They were very nice people. He was guest drummer on the Gary Numan album 'Dance' so this to me is a recommendation that he is a good drummer.

Hmm. Interesting question that. I really like the bloke and everything - have a lot of respect, of course - but I don't really think he's a particularly brilliant drummer. Feel guilty for saying that.
