I had two friends that had the cartiledge at the top of their ears pierced on the same day. One friend's healed ok, but even 3 years later when it got bumped it hurt her. The other friend's swelled up to the size of a golfball, and she had to go have the earring surgically removed and the pus drained from her ear. Not fun for her, and for the friend who's piercing did heal, it still hurts occasionally and you can't sleep on that side for quite a long time.

I got mine done about like 3 years ago when I was in fifth grade, and it didn't hurt that bad. When I first got it done, it was sore for about 3 days, and I couldn't sleep on that side for almost 2 weeks. Alot of people get a little bump on the back of their ear, like I did, but that goes away within a month. As long as you clean it twice a day everyday, it's fine.

Well what you will most likely hear from people is. "Oh it's so dangerous, don't do it because your face can go numb, blah blah blah" Well take it from me having alot of my cartliage pierced. It's not so bad. If you go to a professional to have it done. GOOD, because you are taking alot of risks doing it yourself. A professional knows where exactly to pierce it and so on. Just take real good care of it so it dont get infected and you should be good!
