Americorps or Peace Corps. You are working directly for your gov't, but are not in military services and should there ever be a draft again the gov't will see that you have legitimately served your government.

Otherwise, volunteer!

There is plenty of civic volunteer work you can do. If you want to support the troop you can send care packages or write letters. They have a neat program in Oregon called, well shoot, I can't remember what its called. Anyway you sign up to help families of service people overseas. If they need some work around the house done the program will put them in touch with volunteers to get the work done for free, or at the cost of materials.

You don't have to join the military to serve your country contrary to what liberals insist. To do good for your nation is what's required. Some do that by joining the military. Others do volunteer work, teach, become police or fire fighters, etc.

At one time I believed that every American had an obligation to serve their country. I don't feel that way anymore. Our leaders lie to us, tax us unfairly, have no interest in serving legal citizens, compromise our safety in the name of profit, deny and violate our constitutional rights, and could not care less about us individually. I no longer think they deserve our respect, our confidence, our loyalty, or cooperation.
