Depends on the pool...a standard yard pool is usually 25 yards across...an Olympic sized pool is 50 yards....either 8x or 4x across the length of the pool depending on the pool type. FYI, sometimes pools are in meters rather than yards.

well... since pools come in various sizes there is no way to answer this question. Here's a way to find out though.

Place a mark on the ground. Take 10 steps and put another mark. Measure the distance and divide by 10. This gives you a good average length of your stride. Let's say for example the distance was 22 and a half feet. This would make your stride about 2.5 feet (22.5/10).

Now.. go to the pool you are swimming in. Step off the distance from one end to the other. Multiply that number by 2.5 (number of feet per stride). Let's say the number of steps was 48. This would make the pool 120ft in lenght. Thus if you swim one lap that would be 240ft (120*2). Now.. divide this by 3 to get yards and you end up with 80 yards. Thus to swim a total of 200 yards you will need to swim 2 and a half laps.

So.. there you go. Oh.. BTW... knowing your average stride distance will come in handy through out your life so finding it now.. will benefit you for years to come.

Good luck!

200 yards is 8 lengths of a 25 yard pool. Most American pools are 25 yards in length.

Normally pools are 25 yards/meters (they're roughly the same) so in terms of back-and-forths (laps) that'd be 4. In terms of from one wall to the opposite one then it'd be 8 (aka lenghts).

In a standard pool (probably one like the one that you will be doing training/guarding at) it will be 8 laps.
