It's better than nothing - and having 'links' to other useful sites will encourage people to visit your site.

It depends. If you have no website right now, and you wish to build a website solely for the purpose of churning affiliate bucks, don't bother.

However if you already have a website about a subject you love, and/or you plan to make a website about one of your passions, then adding affiliate links is a way to get some extra bucks out of your efforts.

It also depends on the subject. If your site is about vintage video games, there might not be many reasons to link to a product in an affiliate program. But if your site is about reviewing high-end home theater equipment, then obviously links to the products could "do ok".

If you set up a website that has only affiliate links you will never get the traffic you need to make any money. However, if you offer a unique product or service and can find some affiliate links that enhance your offering, it is a good way to supplement your own offerings. For instance, you set up a website that caters to cowboys and those who love cowboy stuff. Fill it with your own products and then link to others who also offer cowboy stuff. You've just expanded your offerings and made your site more valuable. If you offer Internet Marketing, offer an affiliate software program that helps people find good search terms.

It all depends on what it is you're selling and what the percentage is for each sale,if you have very popular products at a competitive price then even if the commission isn't that great you'll do well just by selling a large quantity, the thing to keep in mind is that you are basically "working" for someone else, but paying for the privilege by this I mean you have to meet whatever advertising costs are involved, just do your home work before you commit any money or time .

It sure is, its not effort free, for the month of February I have averaged about $55 an hour for the work I have put into my affiliate program. I just joined in late December, they supplied the site, the banners and unique content and I make up to $175 a sale. I really enjoy this program, email me if you want a look

It takes time and finding out which deals work and which don't. You also need a good amount of free traffic as it's hard when you're trying to buy traffic in and get the equations right. But go for it as it is worth it in the end.
