I'm looking for somewhere to live in Washington that would be equal time-wise to Olympia and Seattle. I know Tacoma is pretty much in the middle of the two, but that a lot more traffic heads into Seattle, so it would take a lot more time. Any suggestions?

I live in Lakewood which has a reasonable cost of living and is centrally located between both Seattle and Olympia. Due to the traffic I would recommend using the bus system to get to either location. The corridor between Seattle and Tacoma/Lakewood/Pierce county is served by Sound transit express buses and regional rail (sounder train). The section between Olympia and Tacoma/Lakewood/Pierce county is served by Intercity Transit & Pierce Transit. The transit systems in Washington are generally clean, fast and cost effective.
