We are all born heterosexual. Gays are heterosexuals with abnormal condition of same sex attraction. Some choose to overcome their attraction similar to sex addicts, bestiality attracted, alcoholics, gambling addicts etc.,etc. These are all conditions based in abnormal feelings of attraction. All feeling is rooted in behavior and all behavior can be changed and re-directed with the desire to do so.

It's an interesting question that I'm sure all of us (gay, straight and everything in between) would like to have a firm answer to. Unfortunately, there is no "correct" answer as of yet.
In my experience there are 3 common belief systems.
1. Homo or Hetero sexuality is an inherited trait - There is a quantitative (measurable) change to a person's genetic makeup which defines their Homo or Hetero sexual preference. environmental differences have no influence.
2. A person's environment / life experience during "the formative years" is solely responsible for the outcome of a person's sexuality.
3. That a person can be genetically predisposed to either Hetero or Homo sexuality but that predisposition does not itself define a person’s "preference"... environment plays an equal part in the outcome of a person's sexuality.
Essentially, it's the question of nature vs. nurture
Which one is right? Are any of them?
The only thing I know for sure is
Questions are plentiful - answers are few.

About the time I reached puberty, I made a list with four columns. Men Plusses, Men Minuses, Women Plusses, Women Minuses.
I filled in as many things as I could in each and when I saw the results I decided I had to be hetero.
So it was a choice. I'm sure there's a church somewhere that can "cure" me and make me a happy lesbian. :)

Well, considering that they fell being gay is a lifestyle choice, I'd say being heterosexual is a lifestyle choice.

I don't know and I don't think it matters. I think the whole choice arguement is ridiculous. One's gender or sexual orientation clearly is not a choice, but if it was, it still wouldn't matter; at all. Straight people are equal to gay people and vice versa.
