We have a very overweight friend...because of this we are always kidding around with him and giving him a hard time. He usually laughs and plays along...nothing harmless.

Well a couple weeks ago, my buddy was sitting on a friends couch...another friend had brought his pet python over to show everyone, and apparently my buddy is scared of snakes... When he offered to let him hold the snake, he started shaking, waving his hands in a manner to hold him back. Because of his weight, he couldn't get off the couch, so he decided to throw the snake on him. He was frozen in fear and actually passed out from shock (we thought he had a heart attack, but it was shock).

Anyways, the next week, He had the snake in his green travel bag...put on the floor in the corner. He thought he would be funny and stand over the snake threatening to sit on it...well, he stood over the snake, lost his balance and accidently squashed the snake...killing it.

My buddy wants to press charges...can he?

Snake boy was a moron. He should never have taken the snake to someone's house. It is cruel and inconsiderate to start taking the snake to people's houses, and even more stupid to be throwing it on people who are afraid of snakes.

The whole incident and stupidity surrounding the care of this snake is just pathetic. Any sane judge will just throw this case out. Sounds like a lot of people have a lot of growing up to do.

Can he or should he? No, he shouldn't press charges. He used the snake as a weapon of terror in recent past. What kind of idiot takes a snake over to someone's house, anyway? If snake boy continues to be stupid, large friend should sit on him. He doesn't deserve a pet until he's mature enough to take seriously the care and handling of a living creature.

It was an accident. People are sue-happy in this world. *shakes head* If the snake was quite expensive the guy who killed it should offer to compensate the owner. It shouldn't need go any further than that.

Although it's unfortunate the snake was killed, the heavy guy could've sued the owner previously for trauma brought on my throwing the snake on him...but he didn't, did he?

I'm sure he could something in court to get the cost of the snake back, but he shouldn't because it was a prank gone wrong. He should have expected something to happen when scaring the other friend in the first place. Sounds like a dick move to me.
