All living cells are like that of working machines. They constantly need inputs like nutrients, e.g, glucose, amino acids, minerals, water, and oxygen etc. All these undergo various biological interactions to bring about the cellular functions. These interations are called as Metabolism. In multicellular animals the blood works as transporting agency. It transports various above said componants to the cells. In turn the cells produce waste and excretory products like CO2 etc as a result of metabolism called as out puts. These outputs are again picked up by blood and transported to various organs for their expulsion to the exterior.

All cells need for life are nutrients, water and a way to dispose of waste. Blood is a multi cellular fluid which facillitates the movement of these components in a large complex animal. Viruses and Bacteria dont have blood as most of these are smaller tahn the cells cotained in the blood. No plants have blood either and consist of many varied and complex cells

I would agree with the first response. Cells need nutrients, oxygen, and water. I would also add that cells need a way to get rid of waste products. Blood provides a medium for the delivery of the aforementioned items.

Cells need oxygen and nutrients to survive. Not all cells need blood--only those that are part of a complex multicellular organism does. They do not have access to oxygen or nutrients without blood.
