When I go to load my computer, I can make it to the "Weclome Screen" but when I enter my password it lets me onto my desktop, but I cannot access anything, and my computer automatically logs me off. I am not able to get to my Registry Editor or anything. Anyone know what I can do to solve this problem?

Also, I do not have a Windows XP Reboot CD. I do however have the System Recovery CD's that came with my computer. I have a Sony VAIO.

I would like to solve this problem, without having to reinstall my harddrive. I believe it is possible from the research i've done online about this, but clarification is always a plus. Thanks alot.

Have you tried booting up in safe mode? If you can, run a virus scanner.

To get to safe mode press f8 while the computer is first starting up.

I think you have a virus. You may have to contact a service representative for Sony or an authorized computer technician. Sorry I can't answer your question directly to solve the problem, but that's the only thing I can think of to have the problem fixed.

That is not a login off problem your having it sound more closer to the 'screen saver' asking your password when you return. The support person has to be there in person to see it, not a computer problem your computer setup, and communication skills.
Your computer use skills for WindowsXP

You dont state your service provider, but it is possible the signal coming into your home is too low. If your cable company provides your puter service, phone in a trouble call. Usually there will be no charge for that.

Also, some service providers can use their base to perform diagnostics thru their own puter so see if your "node" is experiencing a low signal problem overall.

Good luck!
