Yes there is a double standard for Israel. They have violated numerous UN resolutions, 77 and counting. They have nuclear weapons. They are occupiers and they continue to subject Palestinians to horrendous living conditions. Notice that if someone were to attack Israel, then we will be up and arms about it, but if they bomb the sh*t out of Lebanon, we just tsk tsk and then say Israel has the right to defend herself. There is most definitely a double standard, and there will never be a fair two state solution for Palestine and Israel until the United States becomes an honest broker and stops putting the interest of one nation over the other.

The 'democraticly' elected government of Palestine refuses to recognize that Israel has a right to exist or renounce violence as a political tool.... apparently we're the only ones allowed to do that.

I hate to break this to you but the US & especially the US Govt. has a double standard about everything. Hypocracy is king in America because Americans always want to be right even if they are totally wrong. See the US govt. won't recognize the democratically elected Govt. in Palestine because Hamas is considered a terror organization even though they were legally elected by a majority of Palestinian people. US loves democracy but only when that democracy is friendly to the US & Israel.

That is a funny an ironic situation. Do you know? In the 80's, we(USA) tried our best NOT to have democracy in the middle east because we were afraid that if Muslims start voting, they will vote for a strict religious govt. and that won't be good for us. And now we are saying that we will bring "Democracy" in that region. Ironic huh? Why are Pakistan and Saudi Arabia our biggest Ally when they don't have democracy? Ever thought of that?

Because they democratically elect to plan terrorist activities. Worry about your buddies wanting to blow things up, and less what the US thinks of you.
