That's been my experience with them. They come out late at night and search around my backyard with flashlights when I call about a "strange noise." I see them driving in their cars... seeing them so frequently makes me feel safer... especially when I have to come home late at night.

They have been at the scenes of accidents and have been courteous and helpful there... even when *sigh* the accident was MY fault... yes, I, too am a bonehead in this life.

Even when I've received speeding tickets... they are protecting the rest of the public from ME.

So, at age of 45, having had dealings with cops via tickets, deaths in family, funerals, "strange noises," a brother who was always in trouble with the law, and a lifetime of seeing them at work in the communities I've lived in, I have to say, "Yes." They are doing their job description and then some.

Kudos to all you police officers! Chocolate chip cookies on the house! Don't fall while retrieving them.

yes, absolutely. Most are decent, hard working individuals that get little money to compensate for the long hours and the fact that they daily put their life on the line for the rest of us.
