Is there a proper general term for "things you write after your name", such as PhD, MSc, BSc. BUT, not just degrees-- also memberships in professional organizations, etc.

Designations?
Accreditations?
Qualifications?

The university degrees listed are called Qualifications. However, some people also have abbreviations of Titles ie. Esq.=esquire (British title given to small landowners - squire) P. Smith, Esq., BA, BS, PHD

usually it is some form of degree or level of education.

phd means you have promoted to docter, which means you not only followed a univerity study, you then wrote a doctorate. (a study of something)

BSc means Bachelor of Science, which means you completed a University Study in Sciences (biology, chemistry, mathmatics, social sciences, etc)

MSc means Master of Science, which means you complete the above bachelor, and then performed another 2 year study into a specific field.
