I would say it's because the pantyhose are more comfy. I wear pantyhose for the daytime,if anything, and garter belts or thigh highs for hubby. It's all about individual comfort levels.

Some pantyhose offer body shaping, so if you want to look a bit slimmer without wearing a tight body shaper, control top pantyhose are womens favored choice.

I agree with the other women, you always have to adjust thigh highs and garter belts, there for more intimate times, while pantyhose aren't attractive they are cheap and efficient

Well most of the skirts nowadays are so short that if they wear thigh-highs or garter belts they will show and personally I think it looks tacky when the tops of thigh highs and garter belts show. Panty hose are usually more comfy, also. Of course, I never weare any of them cuz I don't like tights, panty hose or anything like that.

Women most likely don't wear those because they are not that comfortable and they can be a symbol for street walking. Although I wear them so I'm not exactly sure.
