Dance Dance Revolution, a.k.a DDR, is a video game, you can play it on either ps2 or xbox. The games cost around $30 and the mats cost about $20 each. If you are planning on buying it as a gift, buying 2 mats would be nice so 2 people can play against each other. It is a really fun game!

DDR first originated for the PS in Japan, starting with the primary mixes, one to five, including the two club versions.

Konami then gave the US three mixes: the US edition (includes songs from 1st to third mix in first mix style), Konamix (has six panel style), and Disney Mix.

They then worked up to the PS2, with mixes six to ten (MAX-SuperNOVA) in the US, and the same, except in Japan, DDR EXtreme 2 was DDR Str!ke, using an EX2 look.

In 2001, with the XBox release, Konami created the Ultramix series, expanding a user's song selection. Recently, they released the fourth Ultramix.

Universe will come out for the XBox 360 next month in March.

Now, for costs.

It costs $40 without a pad, but $60 with a pad in the bundle. The pad is the official Konami softpad, second generation in the PS2 series, first generation in the XBox series.

For new pads, I suggest the RedOctance pad, or, if you want to blow some money off, a metal pad.

Dance Dance Revolution is a ps2 game, you have to buy dance pads for it too. If you have ebay it is really easy to get a package that comes with the game and 2 pads for 50 dollars or less.
