Presently many pay no taxes, in fact get a refund or credit in excess of what they paid in. Should not we all share in the cost of running our countries business? We all all benefiting from US services.

All Americans who have taxable income should pay taxes. Not everyone earns income, so how is it fair to tax them (under the present system)?

Our income taxes assess that - income.

However, historically there have been people concerned about the poor or lower wage earners resulting in those credits. It a difficult argument to be in when one side threatens that all the big tax breaks go to the rich when the proverbial little guy pays little if no tax at all.

Compromise has led to complexity.

Yes! Everyone should pay a flat VERY SMALL percentage of their income. It is decidedly unfair that those who have crappy incomes (b/c they are ignorant or lazy) & reproduce irresponsibly can actually have a NEGATIVE effective tax rate. Meanwhile, we suckers who busted our butts to get good educations on our own nickel & good jobs get penalized because we have been too damned busy to even attempt to reproduce. The people who get the most assistance, tax credits, tax deductions are the ones who are the most irresponsible. I even quit doing my sisters' taxes this year because I just can't stand to see them get EIC when I paid in $17k & still ended up writing a check this week to our beloved Treasury!

TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH! NO ONE ELSE PAYS TAXES, ANYWAY!

Yes, except that some (too many, if you ask me) simply don't have the money to pay.

Therefore, those that have the means carry those that don't. You may not like it, but short of kicking out those that don't pay, it's the only way to do it.

Yes.

There is a problem where when people don't pay any taxes, they have no incentive to vote against any kind of spending. It's all free to them.
