An old employee of mine is getting out of jail next week and states he is coming for me!!! Three years ago I was this man's sales manager and we were on the road. It got late and him and another co-worker were hungry. They pulled up to a McDonalds at 10:59 (sign said they closed at 11:00) and were refused service. Words were exchanged and the man who is now after me (we'll call him Fred) threw a huge rock right through the window. They came back to the hotel & the next thing you know Fred was involved in a physical may lay with the police that came for him. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

He now states it was my sales training that have him such confidence he could have done something like that and get away from it. Furthermore, I did not write or call Fred while he was in jail and he keeps saying "Not one phone call or letter". Further goes on to state he will make an example out of me for selling him down the river. How are his actions POSSIBLY my fault?

What he did is not your fault. It is the fault of being an angry person.
Call the police and file a report against the guy and hopefully you can get a restraining order against him.

Good Luck!

His actions are not your fault. You can not blame yourself for something another person did. If you think it is bad enough, try to file a restraining order against him. Keep track if/when he trys to contact you and when he has contacted you in the past. This will help if the police ask you any of these questions. I think "Fred" needs to take a course in business ethics and anger management. Hope this helps!

Make sure you've got a cell phone, the direct number for the police on speed dial, and enough furniture to barricade the door untill the police arrive....

How did he let you know he was coming for you? By phone, email or letter? If his threats were in writing you should be able to get a restraining order. Also, you should let your company's HR dept. know about the threats. Everything that occurred sounds like it was within the scope of your employment.

Not very clear of a story, but ... a PPO will keep 'fred' away from you or 'fred' will risk prison for a long time. It is free and can be done in one day at your local courthouse.

people blame other people for their actions b/c it is the easy way out instead of really looking at themselves. i wouldn't worry too much about that. but i would either get a restraining order or call the police if he does try and start something with you

It is not your fault. Keep a video camera with you and your cell phone well charged. Lock your doors and try to catch him coming for you so that you can have him go back to jail if necessary.

He is responsible for his own actions. Does he know where you live? Contact police let them know what is going on. I f he calls or contacts you record the conversation to give to police.

Because like most criminals like him, he's a spoiled brat who refuses to take responsibility for his own actions because his mommy didn't make him behave as a kid.

Get a restraining order.

They aren't. You need to get a restraining order against him if he has made threats against you.

Personally - if there were a credible threat to me or my family, I'd take proactive steps to address it.
